Cheques are no longer issued by the RTA

Bonds are refunded via direct deposit into Australian bank accounts. Cheques are no longer issued. Provide your up-to-date bank details on the refund form.

To get your bond back you should leave the property in the condition it was in when you moved in, apart from fair wear and tear.

Tenants/residents should ensure their forwarding address is on the Refund of rental bond form.

The property manager/owner or provider is not responsible for informing the RTA of the former tenant/resident’s new address. Refund applications are generally processed within 2-3 working days. There will be delays in payments if the Refund of rental bond does not indicate that all people agree to the distribution of bond money.
