Thorneside (Post Code: 4158)

Thorneside is a small suburb nestled on the Boundary of Brisbane and Birkdale. Moreton Bay sits on its northern side. It is best known for being the quiet suburb of the Redlands, with many families chosing the more vibrant suburbs of Birkdale and Wellington Point nearby. It is though well serviced by transport and sporting facilities. Thorneside train station gives residents access to the Brisabne CBD as well as through the Redlands back to Cleveland. William Taylor Park sits in the centre of Thornside and houses a multitude of sporting clubs. The housing is mostly detached style, whilst in recent years there has been a swell of town house complexes being built close to the railway station. It has also good access to the Bay for the avid boatie, as well as  nearby Tingalpa creek which is a being utilized by many adventure companies for canoeing.

The 2011 census showed that 91% of the residents spoke English as their first language, whilst the average age was 38 being one year above the national average. The area is mostly home to families with children.

There is quite a large of percentage of rental accomodation with 34% of the residents not owning their homes, whilst 66% where owner occupiers.
